Ladin language and culture:
Les Viles (small Ladin villages): characteristic and historical settlements in Badia Valley
Ladin Culture and Language: the inhabitants of the Badia Valley (as in Gardena Valley, Fassa Valley, Arabba-Livinallongo and Cortina d' Ampezzo) speak Ladin, the oldest language of the Alps. For example: bun dé=good morning, l’ciüf=flower, l’crëp=mountain, a s'odëi=goodbye….
The inhabitants of Ladinia are raised with reverence for the environment and conservation; therefore well-preserved structures from the past are able to be seen, in addition to several museums including the Museo Ladin Ciastel de Tor (castle) in San Martino. This museum highlights some particular points in history and the current life of the Ladin people living in the Dolomites.
Customs and Traditions: From village festivals and gastronomic adventures to traditional folk dances and religious rituals with processions, Badia Valley offers plenty of unique customs and traditions linked to ancient times.
Agritourism and Ladin farms:
In the valley there are still many local farms, some very old and full of history and is usually spread on the sunny side

Street market with local products and handicrafts
A weekly market takes place every Wednesday evening from 4 to 8 pm in the pedestrian zone of San Cassiano. Every two weeks, the market is accompanied by live music with the accordion or local bands, culinary specialties and tastings of local food products. A local crafts and farmer’s market takes place in Colfosco every Friday from 4 pm onwards.
