The Dolomites - Pale Mountains: Unesco World Heritage
The scenery is unforgettable: pale stone castles rising from verdant meadows. The queen of these spectacular mountains is the Marmolada glacier. The name “Dolomites” pays homage to Marchise de Dolomieu who discovered the calcareous rock in 1788.

The Dolomites
This mountain range is located south of the Alps, bordered by Adige in the west, Piave in the east, Pusteria Valley in the north and Belluno in the south. The Sella Group (between Corvara, Arabba, Canazei and Selva di Val Gardena, the Puez Group (between the Gardena, Badia and Funes valleys), Sassolungo and Cattinaccio (Gardena and Fassa valleys), Tofane and Cristallo (Cortina d' Ampezzo), Dolomiti di Sesto with the Tre Cime di Lavaredo (Alta Pusteria) and Marmolada, the queen of the Dolomites (Malga - Ciapela - Arabba - Canazei), are the most famous areas.

The Dolomites: in Ladin “les Dolomites”, named after their discoverer, Dolomieu.
Since 2009, the Dolomites have been included as an UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Dolomites nature parks in the Bolzano province are Sesto, Fanes-Sennes-Braies, Puez-Odle, Scilliar-Catinaccio, Latemar Group and Bletterbach.
